David Thompson (American Businessman, Born 1798)
David Thompson (1798 – February 1871) was an American businessman. He was President of the New York Life Insurance and Trust Company. Life He was the son of Jonathan Thompson (Collector), Jonathan Thompson who was Collector of the Port of New York during the administrations of Presidents James Monroe and John Quincy Adams. He married Sarah Diodate Gardiner (ca. 1808-1891), and they had seven children. Thompson entered the office of his father after completing his education with a concentration in the English language, French language, and the Classics. Two years later he became Cashier of the United States Customs House in New York City. Prior to obtaining the presidency of New York Life Insurance, he served successively as Cashier of the Fulton Bank and Cashier of the Bank of America. David George Thompson (born 20 September 1949) is a Scottish former politician who was the leader of Action for Independence (AFI) from 2020 to 2021. A former member of the Scottish National Party (SNP), Thompson was a Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) from 2007 to 2016. In the 2007 Scottish Parliament election he became an MSP for the Highlands and Islands (Scottish Parliament electoral region), Highlands and Islands region, and then in the 2011 Scottish Parliament election for the Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch (Scottish Parliament constituency), Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch constituency. David Thompson (born August 28, 1993) is an American professional baseball third baseman who is a free agent. He played college baseball at the University of Miami. He was drafted by the New York Mets in the 4th round of the 2015 Major League Baseball draft. Amateur career Thompson attended Westminster Christian School in Miami, Florida. He played baseball, football and basketball. During his career he hit 55 home runs which broke the Florida state record for career home runs which had been held by Alex Rodriguez. David O'Neil Thompson (born July 13, 1954), commonly known by the nickname "Skywalker", is an American former professional basketball player. He played with the Denver Nuggets of both the American Basketball Association (ABA) and National Basketball Association (NBA), as well as the Seattle SuperSonics of the NBA. He was previously a star in college for North Carolina State, leading the Wolfpack to its first NCAA championship in 1974. He also was a member of the Amsterdam Admirals in NFL Europe. He played college football at Oklahoma State. Early life Thompson attended Okmulgee High School where he rushed for 4,995.
